Credit Unions Raise over $41,000 for Local Non-Profits

Springfield, MO – Springfield area credit unions hosted their 22nd Annual Credit Unions for Community Golf Tournament. Through the collective efforts of credit union marketing staff, $41,714 was raised in support of Harmony House and Help Give Hope. Funds were split evenly between the two organizations.

Long time credit union participant and VP of Community and Team Engagement at Volt Credit Union, Vicki Owens noted that, “Over the past 22 years, area credit unions have raised more than $830,000 for community and charitable organizations through events like this golf tournament. It is rewarding to see how credit unions cooperating with each other can make such an incredible impact in our community.”

Funds will be utilized to help victims of domestic violence through Harmony House and to purchase mattresses and Christmas gifts for families in need through Help Give Hope. The $41,714 is a five-year fundraising high for the Credit Unions for Community Golf Tournament.

“We are so honored to be a part of the Credit Unions for Community Golf Tournament,” said Esther Munch, Development Director for Harmony House. “The funds raised are amazing and exceed expectations each year. Funds that will help us change the lives of those impacted by domestic violence. We truly appreciate our involvement in this fun day for a great cause!”

“Help Give Hope is so humbled by this amazing gift!  These dollars will help us put kids in beds, assist with families’ rent and make sure those, who often fall through the cracks, are given a wonderful Christmas,” said Murray Beairsto, Executive Director of Help Give Hope. “The collective commitment the Credit Unions show is just amazing.”
