Wire Transfers for Missionaries
Whether you’re serving across the country or around the world, AGCU can help you securely send and receive wire transfers.
Moving Money When Ministry Takes You Around the World
Missionary life doesn’t always happen close to a branch — or even in the same country.
Wire transfers provide a way to move funds between financial institutions in the United States and internationally.
AGCU can help missionaries receive domestic and international wires and send outgoing wires when needed.
Receiving Money
Incoming Wire Transfers

Why Are International Wire Instructions Different?
International wires may need to travel through another financial institution before reaching AGCU.
That’s why it is important to provide all of the international wire information — including the beneficiary bank, AGCU information and your For Further Credit information.
Missing or incorrect information may delay the wire or prevent it from being credited to your account.
Sending Money
Outgoing Wire Transfers
Need to send money from your AGCU account to another financial institution? AGCU offers both domestic and international outgoing wire transfers.
To prepare your wire, you’ll need information about the person or organization receiving the funds and the financial institution receiving the wire.
For your security, wire requests should be submitted through AGCU’s secure Online or Mobile Banking platform or in person at an AGCU branch.

Having the correct information before you begin can help prevent delays.

- Request an ACH or wire transfer
- Send your completed Wire Worksheet
- Upload required documents securely
- Ask questions about your transaction
- Receive confirmation from AGCU
If you are serving somewhere that makes Online Banking unavailable, contact AGCU for assistance. Additional verification may be required before a wire can be processed.
Outgoing Wire Fees & Timing
$20
Standard domestic outgoing wire fee
$30
Standard international outgoing wire fee
3:00 p.m.
Central Time deadline for same-business-day outgoing wire processing
International and other wire transfers may be subject to additional fees charged by intermediary or receiving financial institutions. Processing times can vary based on the receiving institution, country and other circumstances.
Before You Send: Double-Check the Instructions
Wire transfers move quickly and can be difficult to recover once they are sent.
Before submitting a wire, carefully verify the recipient’s name, account number and financial institution information. If someone sends you new or changed wire instructions, especially by email or text, verify those instructions using a trusted contact method before sending money.
Never send a wire simply because someone is pressuring you to act immediately. If something feels unusual, contact AGCU before sending the funds.
ACH Transfer or Wire Transfer?
Both move money electronically, but they serve different needs.
ACH Transfer
A useful option for moving money between accounts at U.S.-based financial institutions, especially when transfers will happen on a recurring schedule.
Think: recurring transfers, savings and regular payments.
Wire Transfer
May be appropriate when you need to send funds to another financial institution, including international transfers.
Think: international transfers and other transactions that need to be sent by wire.
Not sure which one you need? Contact AGCU and we’ll help you determine the appropriate transfer method.
Wire Transfer FAQs for Missionaries
Does AGCU charge for incoming wires?
AGCU does not charge a fee for incoming wire transfers. Other financial institutions involved in the transfer may charge their own fees.
Can I send an international wire from my AGCU account?
Yes. AGCU offers outgoing international wire transfers. You will need complete information for the recipient and receiving financial institution.
Can I request a wire while I’m overseas?
AGCU’s secure Online and Mobile Banking platform gives missionaries a way to communicate with AGCU and submit required information from wherever online access is available.
Why might an international wire require an intermediary bank?
Some international transfers pass through another financial institution before reaching the recipient’s bank. If intermediary bank information is required, the recipient or receiving financial institution should provide it with the wire instructions.
